Benefits of Attending a Community College:

  • To save money

  • To improve grades

  • To get more playing experience in order to transfer to a 4-year school

  • Athletic scholarships (community colleges in California do not offer athletic scholarships, but junior colleges in the NJCAA are allowed to offer athletic scholarships).

CCCAA / NJCAA eligibility checklist:
✔ Contact the athletic department at the community college/junior college to discuss eligibility requirements or the coach directly to inquire about athletic opportunities. Many schools have guidance counselors and resources dedicated to athletes to help them meet their academic and athletic goals.
✔ Students must be a high school graduate or must have received a high school equivalency diploma or have been certified as having passed a national test such as the General Education Development Test (GED).
✔ Students must maintain full-time status during the season of the sport(s) in which they have chosen to participate (full-time status being 12 credit hours or more).
